Ok, so it's stretching the theme a bit but it's one of the few places that still has anything cold on the ground!

Week 5 / Frozen

It's that time of year.  Some of the coldest weather we will see.  With it comes the ice.  This week I'll try to capture some interesting formations, hopefully the warm-up won't make them disappear.

Week 4 / Weathered

Rusty old cars, dilapidated shacks, farm equipment, machinery sitting unused... this week I'll be looking for anything that could be considered weathered.  Hopefully this will lead to some interesting shots.

Not sure if this even has a name but it's a small picturesque creek just a bit behind the Covered Bridge Inn.

On my way to find a photo for today, this pool caught my eye.

Week 3 / Streams

Of the four elements of classical thought I feel most aligned with water.  I could sit mesmerized for hours watching powerful waterfalls or the drops of rain in a puddle.  So this week I'll share some images of the local stream.

I've also decided to allow myself to stray from my weekly theme a bit in case I find something I'd love to photograph during the week that doesn't fit in.  The majority of my posts will still fit the theme, and it will be clear from the title when they aren't intended to fit.

Finally, after two days of being completely out of commission with a stomach virus, I finally ventured out of the house briefly today.  So I have three posts to play catch up.  Hopefully I won't need to do this much in the future.

How many sick days do I get here?

Ok,  a bit early to fall behind but I was barely able to leave my bed for the past day and a half.   Stomach virus.  Will play catch up over the next few days.

Sometimes you find a surprise, as with this crane that was decorated for the season.

Night / Blue Mountain

The ski slopes from Blue Mountain are just hidden from view at my house by the hills across the lake. The lights still provide a nice warm glow in the sky on cloudy winter nights.

Night / Tree

The Christmas Tree is the obvious choice for this theme and one of the oldest examples of a tradition meant to warm up the winter months.

Week 2 / Night

Darkness.  Chilling cold.  Loneliness that bears down on your soul.

It's that time of the year when the night outlasts the day.  The tradition festivals celebrating the solstice which evolved into the celebration of Christmas were meant to stave off the depression that often accompanied this season.  This weeks posts hope to do the same... show some of the warmth and light that can be found if you just know where to look.  Keep warm, cozy up with your family or friends, find that bright spot in your day and remember, spring will be here soon enough!

We'll start of with a self-portrait... only fair since this is my project. Gorgeous, I know.

Week 1: Family

The project starts with the thing that is most important to me, my family.

Better late than never

Every year for the past three years I've chosen a project or two to work on throughout he year.  My first was a photo 365 project followed up by a new recipe a week and then a series of workouts.  Some have been more successful than others.  My photo project died in November.  My cooking project was completed.  My workouts trickled off as the year progressed.  This year I'm bringing back the photo project.  To add a twist I'll be doing weekly themes.  Collections, colors, holidays, family, etc.  I'm already a day behind on this, I just decided to do it today.  So, there's the plan, let's see where it takes us.  Follow my progress, give me encouragement, join in with a project of your own.  Here we go.... have a great 2013!
